Build the process you recognise
Capture activities, decisions, resources and hand-offs in a visual editor. Keep operational evidence and assumptions alongside the model.
Understand how your business really works. Explore what could change. Make the next operational decision with evidence.
Your people.
Your process.
A clearer picture.
Leafcutter brings process mapping, simulation and scenario comparison into a shared environment for consultants and business teams.
Capture activities, decisions, resources and hand-offs in a visual editor. Keep operational evidence and assumptions alongside the model.
Run simulations from saved model revisions. Explore changes to capacity, working patterns and process rules, then compare the results.
Review performance and constraints, share business scenarios and produce reports that keep the assumptions and findings connected.

Adding capacity in one place can move the queue somewhere else. Faster work can create more rework. Leafcutter helps you see those relationships before you commit people, time or money.
Map activities, decisions, resources, queues and hand-offs with the people who know the process.
Connect observations and assumptions to the model. Check its behaviour against the operation you recognise.
Explore alternatives and review service, capacity, quality and cost together. Use the findings to shape a real-world pilot.
A small example of why the whole process matters.
Change one assumption and watch the constraint move.
Start with a process receiving 120 jobs per day. Processing can handle 80; inspection can handle 104.

A simplified daily capacity calculation: output is the lowest of demand and the four stage capacities. All stages are available all day, with no variation, downtime or rework. Unfinished demand is demand minus output.
This is an illustration, not a Leafcutter simulation or a forecast for your business.
The current constraint. Adding capacity here can increase total output until another stage becomes the limiting factor.
Processing limits the whole flow. Increasing its capacity is a useful first option to test.
In Leafcutter, test richer scenarios using your resources, operating hours, variability, quality and cost assumptions.
Start with a decision that matters to your operation. The model follows your workflow.

Compare an extra shift, a new resource or a different batch size. Look at throughput, delays and the downstream constraint together.
You do not need to model the entire business at once. Start with a focused workflow and the outcomes you need to improve.
Read the Leafcutter introduction PDFAgree the decision, the unit of work and the measures of success. Identify which alternatives the business could actually implement.
Build the process with the people who run it. Gather evidence on demand, time, capacity, queues and quality; distinguish observations from assumptions.
Save a model revision, establish the baseline and test a small set of scenarios. Keep the model, assumptions and results connected.
Use the comparison to select a practical intervention. Measure the real outcome and use it to improve the next model and decision.
A capacity decision. A persistent backlog. A service commitment. Bring the operational question you want to answer.
